Living in Old Town Alexandria, I\u2019ve always appreciated the city\u2019s charm \u2014 cobblestone streets, picturesque waterfront views, and the perfect blend of history and modern life. But recently, I\u2019ve found a whole new way to experience it: biking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few months ago, I discovered BikePass.<\/a> It is a monthly bike subscription from Unlimited Biking<\/a>, and I am so happy I gave this a try! I\u2019ve unlocked an exciting, fresh perspective on my hometown. I was already familiar with Unlimited Biking and their store\u2019s location (1199 N Fairfax Street)<\/a>, but the process couldn\u2019t have been easier. I opted for the Adventure Hybrid Bike (aka woman\u2019s bike), which features a lower frame for added comfort, though they also offer the Quick Model \u2014 with a higher-frame (aka men\u2019s bike).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like I said, I found the entire process seamless! The friendly staff tuned up the bike, ensuring it was ready to ride, and sent me off with a helmet, lock, and bike bag \u2014 all included in the $59 monthly fee. Best of all, there\u2019s no long-term commitment, so I can cancel anytime!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Biking Is the Best Way to Explore Alexandria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexandria is a compact, bike-friendly city, making it perfect for cycling. I mostly use the bike for my daily commute but also love to just bike around for a little relaxation. Biking lets me cover more ground and find hidden spots I might otherwise miss on foot. Old Town Alexandria is the heart of the city, and biking through its historic district is an absolute joy. Cycling down King Street, with its boutiques and caf\u00e9s, never gets old, but the true magic lies in the quieter, cobblestone alleys. These charming, tucked-away lanes are full of character, offering an experience you just can\u2019t get by car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my favorite routes follows the Mount Vernon Trail, which winds along the Potomac River and offers stunning views. Starting at Theodore Roosevelt Island and stretching for 18 miles, the trail provides a peaceful escape from the city\u2019s hustle and bustle. While I don\u2019t typically ride the entire trail, simply biking through nature along the way is a perfect stress reliever for me. The trail also ends at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the home of the first American president, making it a route rich in both natural beauty and historical significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BikePass<\/a> has also opened up new opportunities to explore beyond Old Town. I love venturing to neighborhoods like Del Ray, where the streets are quieter and the vibe is more laid-back. There\u2019s always a cozy caf\u00e9 to try or a cute little shop to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
