As you may know, participation in the NYC Summer Streets requires that everyone must wear a helmet for the duration of the ride. For your convenience, every one of our rentals comes with a Cannondale helmet at no additional charge.

About

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. In 2022, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets.

Unlimited Biking is partnering with Summer Streets to offer bike rentals for guests. Enjoy the car-free streets and take a bike ride to all of the activities that Summer Streets has to offer!

Important Information: The below is not a reservation, but will expedite the process. This is a registration for the one-hour free bike rental. You will still need to check in on a first come first serve basis. Riders should drop off their bikes at the same stop they picked up from, Last rental goes out at 2 PM (Bronx & Brooklyn locations 4Pm)

What is Unlimited Biking?

Unlimited Biking is a premier bike rental provider with locations throughout the United States and Europe.

What services are you offering for Summer Streets?

As part of the Summer Streets program, and in partnership with the DOT, we’re providing a bike activation where riders can ride bikes for free for up to an hour! This is a great way to enjoy the open streets during this event and explore the city in a fun and active way. Along with the rental, we are providing helmet rental for the duration of your ride!

When is the last time I can take out a bike?

The latest you can start a ride is at 2:00 PM. This ensures you still have a full hour to enjoy your rental

Are there any age restrictions to ride?

Riders who are 18 or older can sign up for themselves. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must be present to sign for you. We offer bikes that fit all ages and sizes, so everyone in the family can participate. Bikes are on a first come first serve basis!

What do I need to sign up?

To rent a bike, you’ll need a valid credit card, an identification card, and you’ll be asked to sign a rental waiver before receiving the bike.

Why is a credit card required if the rental is free?

We place a $1 authorization hold on your credit card. This is fully refundable and simply helps us ensure the bike is returned and provides a safeguard in case of loss or damage.

What does the bike rental waiver include?

The waiver is a standard agreement which states that you are responsible for your own safety and for the bike during your rental.

What if I keep the bike for more than one hour?

We ask that bikes are returned within the free hour so others can enjoy the program. If you’d like to keep riding, additional time is charged at $12.50 per hour. Please remember that all bikes must be returned no later than 3:00 PM.

What is the final return time?

All bikes must be returned within one hour of the rental start time and no later than 3:00 PM. Any late returns may result in additional charges

Can I return my bike to a different Summer Streets stop or another Unlimited Biking location?

No. Bikes must be returned to the same location where they were picked up from.

What if there are guests that want to go longer or what if we run out of bikes at any of the stops?

While at the Summer Streets locations, it is recommended that guests go for one hour, guests still have the option to go to one of our store locations below to pick up for longer to ride at Summer Streets (2 Hours, 4 Hours, DayPass) for a 30% discounted rate.
